Films uitgebracht vóór 1991 zijn in deze analyse niet meegenomen, omdat hiervan de box office lastig te achterhalen is. Echter, gebaseerd op het aantal bezoeken van deze films en de daarbij horende ticketprijs toentertijd, is het zeer aannemelijk dat de totale box office van deze films lager is dan deze top 25. Op de genoemde bedragen is geen inflatiecorrectie toegepast.
